A warm Heart of Steel

So, some months ago (I don't remember how many ago, truth be told), my friend *Mnesimache helped me out when I was stuck in the 'no-inspiration-corner' and wrote for me various ideas and concepts he came up with to see if anyone of them interested me. They all did, but, as often happens, when inspiration struck again, it did so in a way that had nothing to do with such concepts...
However, yesterday as I was having some free time and wanted to do an image just for myself, I picked up Martin's list and saw that there was something I was interested in depicting; my all-time favourite X-Men: Colossus!
I remember that I always fancied myself being Colossus, this guy that could turn into a menacing statue of living metal and yet was noble, loyal and tender; and he was an artist too! I just loved his whole concept, and even the colours of his suit were my favourites. Thus, it occured to me that I should make an illustration of Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin, showing what the character (to me) was all about; the irony of being an organic metal man and yet so contemplative and caring.
I'm very fond of how this illustration came out, and (as usual with me) it depicts a rather more 'intimate' moment than the usual 'kicking arse' perspective we're all used to. The colours are very rich buy they blended well, and I think his metal transforming into flesh is a cool effect too, that I managed to pull off nicely. The butterfly is, of course, my reference to Colossus's greatness and spirit.
