DIVINITY - Vartijat

Description

Hi there, fellow watchers and watcherettes!

Excuse my absence the past week, but things have been more than their usual busy these days and most of the work I'm doing I can't show you.

That said, though and at the behest and gentle nagging of the writer of Divinity, Kevin Rojas Veliz, I will post up two pages today of said project.

This is the opening page of the second Chapter of Divinity, entitled Vartijat (you'll learn what that means if you follow the webcomic!). I took this chance to actually show a bit of the behind-the-scenes of how a page looks before it's colored, because I know some of you out there enjoy seeing the process. As you can see, I'm quite obsessive with detail and having the page be as finished as it can be before moving onto inks/colors; this is both a requirement for this assignment and a personal preference. The writer has to actually approve of the page before I move on, so everything that will show up at a later stage has to actually be there in the pencils when he reviews it. But I also take a great joy in inking and coloring, and it is always a much more relaxed stage of illustrating for me and if the image is as detailed as possible, then all th ebetter. If I worked loosely, trusting to tighten things up when I got to do the inks/colors, then I'd have to constantly worrying about what's going to be where and how I'll render it. Instead, with tight pencils, I go with the flow, embellishing what I've already done and choosing some few key elements, like lighting or hues.

I hope you enjoy this one and be sure to check out the webcomic!

Nic.-
