Who would you like to meet? Quite an interesting and rather general question. It can obviously be answered in a million different ways depending on the person, and it will always hold a particular meaning. For my friend, Martin Tingle, the answer to that question goes deep:
'The girl who understands the true meaning of 'less than three'. The girl who likes my qualities but loves my imperfections. The girl who thinks I'm beautiful for it. The girl who sees the beauty in the world, and the crushing sadness. The girl who thinks that there is poetry in despair. The girl who can sing with unrivalled eloquence.
The girl who loves letters and photographs. The girl who will talk on the phone for hours and then text me five seconds after we hang up. The girl that likes being hugged and wants to fall asleep in my arms. The girl who will hold my hand. The girl who will show me off but not show me up. The girl who will keep my secrets and will trust me totally.
The girl who wants love with all her heart, and can live life with a passion. The girl who can make me smile like no other. The girl who understands I'm not perfect, but thinks I'm perfect for her. The girl with principles who can hold her head high. The girl who's not a stereotype, who doesn't try hard to be something she's not. The girl with the genuine smile. The girl who will say it and make me believe it.
The girl who will share bodyheat in the dark. The girl who's bored of dirty fucking and wants love. The girl who'll live a cliche and love every second of it. The girl who doesn't want to be famous - just important. I'd love to meet this girl...
...and Davey Havok.'
This blog entry might not seem to special to some, but for me, it held a deep meaning, just as for the person who wrote it. And since i owed this friend an illustration for a long while now, i decided to use this text of his as inspiration.
The image i conjured up is far from being my usual type of piece; it isn't about rusty automatons or naked women, superheroes or sci-fi characters. It's about a real person (yes, that's him there) and elements that are very profound for him, and ring a bell within me as well.
It's the first time i've captured likeness so well, and i'm proud of that. And it's also the first time i've created a piece so full of sadness and hope at the same time; a piece without time and many elements that, combined together, give a taste of bittersweet to the whole. The falling leaves, the ghost of the girl, the blood red skies...
Anyway. I'm not as good with words as he is, so i'll just leave you with my illustration and hoping you'll like it.

PS.. By the way, for those of you who don't know it, Davey Havok is the lead singer of the band AFI.
Thank you very much, Tom. It's great to hear that the emotions show through the work... (and don't worry about the spelling; you wouldn't believe how many times i have to re-read my writing to avoid them ).

Very diffrente from your usual pieces but yet very moving in it's own subtle way. What draws me in about this piece is the characters eyes they almost tell a story all by themselves. Great work!!
