*Whew*
This one took almost FOREVER to finish, what with all those nifty details and stuff hanging from characters in the dark universe of Warhammer 40,000! It's certainly been a while since I uploaded anything related to that universe here in my deviantART gallery, mainly because I wanted to use this as a portfolio showing my range when illustrating, and most of my commission work usually is related to WH40K, so it gets a bit 'dense' sometimes. HOWEVER, I do find it extremely appealing and I know there's been lots of people asking me to upload illustrations of the Dark Millenium for a while, so here goes the latest I've done, which will tentatively be the cover artwork for FIREBASE magazine (a project developed by gamers and for gamers with an amazing quality of articles!); you can check it here: [link] This piece also marks a sort of return for me to my main passion within the Warhammer 40,000 background: The Inquisition and its Chamber militant the <i<Sisters of Battle, as seen here, making a last stand against Chaos cultists, a.k.a The Lost and the Damned. I enjoyed a lot of details from this scene: the overall sense of motion and action; the sort of 'epic' last stand of the heroes of the Imperium, as well as the design of the Chaos cultists. The vapours are something I'm improving on and the palette is (of course!) one of my favourites. I hope you enjoy it, and let me know your thoughts as usual! Nicolás.- © Games Workshop Ltd. 2008 |
