Description
Fellow deviants,
It's been quite a while since my latest update and I apologise to all of you watching (I'm assuming there's still someone out there!). Work, as usual, has kept me mighty busy; that said though, the fruit of my labor can be enjoyed here from time to time, and such is the case with these latest illustrations I bring you from the darkest depths of the Imperium of Man.
As you all know, black and white is a passion of mine, vastly surpassing my liking of color work. Thus, to get a chance to do the Dark Millenium in this medium was a great joy and also a bit of a challenge. Why? I had to illustrate many armies I'd only briefly rendered here and there, very much associated with a strong, recognisable palette. I tried to convey the very essence of the characters within my lines and I'm very satisfied with the results. Black and white has a power all of its own that enhances (if used correctly) the core of any image depicted in that style. It's raw, it's gritty... it's grimdark! Perectly fitting for Warhammer 40,000 then. As a matter of fact, some of my favourite illustrations form the Inquis Exterminatus (fabulous book!) are in black and white.
I hope you enjoy my take of the mighty Tau! For this one, my aim was to be as clean and straightforward as possible, contrasting with the baroque architecture of the Imperium's devastated cityscape in the background. I'm particularly fond of the drones carefully surveying the area.
See you soon.
