Description
It's been a very hectic week this past one and I haven't really had the time to relax and enjoy myself as I did with the last piece I showed you all; that is, until last night when I got a breath of fresh air and finished a present I did for the most excellent Bill Maus.
~billmausart was very kind to write the Foreword for mt graphic novel UTOPIA, and so I really wanted to pay homage to his most renowned creation, Nira-X ([link] [link] ).
As I think I told Bill himself, when I showed him my interpretation of his character, I didn't have the chance to read her stories as much as I would've wanted, due to my country not shipping a lot of small press comics, but what I did see encouraged me to look forward into a future that had me working as an artist.
I grew up with the whole mid-nineties wave of comics, and Nira was a part of it, reminding many of us aspiring artists and dreamers that you could make yourself a place amongst the big names if you worked hard enough on your skills. So, a salute goes to Bill for inspiring and supporting me. Be sure to check out his Gallery!
As far as the image is concerned, whilst I tried to stay as true to the original as I could, i also wanted to try some of my new markers and also add that bit of "me" into it, which I think I managed to do decently. You'll be the judges, as usual and I hope you enjoy it!
