[on the radio]
Hans Gruber: Mr. Mystery Guest? Are you still there?
John McClane: Yeah, I'm still here. Unless you wanna open the front door for me.
Hans Gruber: Uh, no I'm afraid not. But you have me at a loss. You know my name but who are you? Just another American who saw too many movies as a child? Another orphan of a bankrupt culture who thinks he's John Wayne? Rambo? Marshal Dillon?
John McClane: Was always kinda partial to Roy Rogers actually. I really dig those sequined shirts.
Hans Gruber: Do you really think you have a chance against us, Mr. Cowboy?
John McClane: Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker.

I have to admit that I was never a huge fan of action movies, but Die Hard is just unavoidably the best action movie I've ever seen and I don't ever get tired of watching it. Recently I organised a marathon of all four movies with a friend and aside from the fact that every one of them has something special, the first one will always be the greatest in my eyes.
This movie most definitely defined the heroes in the ones that would come after, in the form of officer McClane as well as the 'organised, well-educated' villain figure, performed superbly here by Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber.

So, I hope you enjoy this bit of nostalgia and testosterone from me :D...

PS.. On a side note, it was a pain in the ass to have to change a few things due to my doing this image before actually getting to watch the film in our marathon. Thus, some details I had to fix, especially the machine gun... *sigh* Research, kids, is the key to success!

How could I missed that pic. We had a marathon with all four movies too last night...so it's nice to see a cool pic of McClane here. Great Job.

Hey there, Markus! It's great to see that people still have a fondness for that great action film that 'Die Hard' was. To me, if redefined some of the old hero and villain archetypes and thus, it deserved a homage in my style.

Thank you for the compliments!

No problem. I guess what makes most of those older action films make so great is that the action is real, in contrast to most of the cgi action in modern movies. So it's nice to see some cool fanart of those in a cool style.

Die hard is 'THE' action movie. Before that, action movie protagonists are some kind of super hero, Arnold scwarzhnegger or Stalonne, gunning down bad guys like there's no tomorrow...

Die hard gave us another type of action protagonist.... I love it (and this picture)

Exactly my thoughts, mate. Die Hard didn't only give another look at the typical lead action hero but also redesigned the whole villain concept, making them less 'thuggish' and much more deadly and smart.
It's those elements combined that make this one a great, great film. I'm glad I could do Mr. McClane justice.
