It's really choppy and suuuuuper scribbly because I took like 30 seconds to draw each frame. Please fill in the gaps and gloss over the art with your wonderful imagination! I made it in Windows Movie Maker which is an absolutely evil program =o=

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

My dear watchers and watcherettes (and, Emperor protect me, there's lots of you!),

I just wanted to stop real quick to thank you for all the Happy Birthday messages and congratulations as well as the encouragement and positive feedback you gave me on my last Journal ( [link] ).

Even though it wasn't meant to sound sad or as a cry for attention, you all showed me a lot of support and gave me some much needed honesty and perspective on how dA really works sometimes as well as what you like/don't like to see from my pencil. I think the true heart of dA lies within the community that's grown here, which (despite the ponies and bewbz!), has managed to survive and nurture artists through the years with great vigour. And I'm happy to have the best fans/watchers/followers around to keep doing that for me on a daily basis!

I will continue, as my latest deviation will attest, depicting the Warhammer 40,000 mythos, but I'll intersect it with more of my own creations to keep the balance in the Gallery. Another angle consists of finding other thing to illustrate within that realm, other than Imperial Forces. So there will be some forthcoming races I think you'll be thrilled to see.

Back to the drawing board now!

I like your style generally. But I really like how you bring the 40k universe to life. Basically all the other pics I see are either so grimdark they taste like dirt or ridiculous sisters of battle/female space marine strip tease. Or MangaTau. Or they just aren't that good.

Of the ones that can draw [link] is good value for a comic style. But I think your work is better technically. And is much more evocative. There is a depth to each pic which you don't see very much in 40k art.

Perfectly understandable if you are a bit sick of most flavours of power armour by now though

Keep up the good work. I'll keep dropping in to see what you've been up to as you're at the top of my DA bookmarks.

Ditto to MaKo85's comment about LOTR. Except how about Ecthelion vs Gothmog at Gondolin.

I think there's a fine line,

I still hear shouts of "sculpt it like this so it matches GW lizardmen" but when you differentiate yourself from that you make something your own, it's no longer the dreaded GW style that groups you with other people but draws attention to you as an artist.
